A question that often comes up goes like this: "What is a member of the Amity AC?" (Or "Who...") Likewise, "If I am a member of the AC, can I swim?"
The Amity Township Athletic Club, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization. In order to participate in any sport other than Swim Team, you have to be a member of the AC. In order to be a member of the AC in good standing, you have to pay the annual fee. It is a family membership, which is pretty important since at this time all of our sports are for kids. Right now, the membership fees are rolled into the sign-up fees to participate in the sports. Once we complete the current restructuring, we will return to charging the membership fee separate. No worries - the fee is quite nominal. Note that being a member of the Amity AC is quite different from joining the pool.
The Amity AC Pool is wholly owned and operated by the Amity Township Athletic Club, Inc, a private non-profit organization. (That's us!) However, the membership is handled quite differently. To "join" the pool, you pay once for a fully refundable bond. Then, you pay an annual pool fee. You do not have to be a member of the Amity AC in order to join the pool.
So, if you are a member of the Amity AC (ie, you have a kid who plays sports or you paid a lifetime membership a few years ago), you still have to pay to join the pool.
